".hedgekiller." have two dots on the start and end of the nick. Fake "hedgekiller." have only one. These are totally differnet accounts with different passwords. But the difference is so smal that almost no one will notice that. And he (the fake one) can damage the good word of .hedgekiller. . That's why he should be banned.

It's like I would set up an account named Thomass and spam on the lobby and annoy other ppl.

Press any key to continue, or any other key to cancel.

The huge problem here:
Let's keep your example with Thomas. Let's assume there is another guy named Thomas who wants to play Hedgewars. He tries to register an account named "Thomas" - it will fail due to the other account existing already. Now a quite common workaround IS to add one more character - dots, hyphens, etc. are really popular for such things as they won't make it harder to read/interpret some names. And here's the problem: The other Thomas creates the account "Thomas*" or "Thomass" or whatever. How to tell he's someone trying to lower the original Thomas' reputation? He might be just another guy wanting to have the same (or a similar) nickname.

IF someone is abusing the system, trying to put others in bad light or whatever, report them. But it's almost impossible (and maybe even a bad idea) to try to avoid such similar nicknames as there are even similar names/words with different meanings etc. but only 1-2 letters different or exchanged (e.g. "hate" vs. "heat", "hog" vs. "hug", "bot" vs. "boot",...).

this hedgekiller. guy even took same teamnames and names of hogs in team...
and the problem is solved, ".hedgekiller." now has an official account with "hedgekiller.", too.
Yesterday he could get into game without typing a password, today it worked with pw...

Anyway, just to note: Name calling is never nice, so you should modify your signature. Smile You don't want others to ruin your image but at the same time call others noob or whatever, so please edit it. Wink Smiley
