Game crashes when me or someone starts the game

And when it crashes my client stays idling on server and I cannot join to server before it time outs.

Whats the problem?

Im using Windows Xp and club 3d hd 4870

Smaxx knows more about windows though.

Other things to try.
Disabling sound/music and enabling reduced quality.

Could also be the NPOTT thing. Smaxx has a windows build of hwengine w/ NPOTT removed here:
