Hedgewars, Xfire and 0.9.13

As some of you might have noticed, Xfire now officially supports Hedgewars.
Especially those not playing under Windows might not even know it as it doesn't support other operating systems so far (but might run under Wine). It combines friends list, instant messenger and some other features while sharing information about the games you play.
More information about Xfire can be found on the official Xfire homepage. While tracking your time ingame works out of the box running version 0.9.12, Hedgewars 0.9.13 will support some additional tidbits showing others the server you're playing on as well as your current room and maybe other things as well.
While we're talking about it... Hedgewars has its own sub page including screenshots, videos and usage statistics. If you're interested to compare it to other artillery games (only including Xfire users in the statistics) have a look at the Artillery Games Genre.
Note: I'm aware of a sometimes occuring bug causing the engine window to lose its input focus right after starting a game while Xfire is active. I'm trying to resolve this issue once I'm able to reproduce it in 100% of all cases. If you've got any hints or thoughts, please tell me!

I'm guessing XFire is something like a more in-depth account for online gaming. LOL I've got Windows Vista but I've never heard of Xfire before1

The bug you mentioned happens every time for me. I think it might have something to do with how the game opens in a new window and it might not pass the focus automatically (just a guess). Usually just a click on the screen is enough to get the focus back and play. (operating system: Windows XP)

Yeah, it's nothing critical like breaking the game, but still annoying. It might be fixed in latest SVN build but we'll see.

hmmmm. mumble would be quit cooler, as it's open source and multiplatform

I didn't apply for Xfire support due to voice chat but due to friends list, "games my friends are playing", etc. so more people hear of Hedgewars and might give it a try.
If you'd like to, you can use Mumble out of the box as well. Just without positional voice audio but that's something that (i think) wouldn't fit into Hedgewars anyway (as you aren't just one individual hog).

an alternative to xfire that some users may prefer (only for windows) is playxpert. Here is the wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PLAYXPERT
The Chat features are interoperable but I don't think that the tracking is.
Either of these tools will make arranging tournament matches much easier as well as chatting with people in other rooms. This makes the lobby a lot more functional
