Well, looks like jessor's disappeared (without even announcing the winner of the previous tournament), and it would be nice to start thinking about a .9.13 tournament.

Given that the last tournament was a disaster, here are my suggestions for the next one:

1. Swiss style pairing system. Defeated players tend to lose interest. Let's keep everyone involved for as long as possible.

i. Everyone will have a game to play each week/fortnight.
ii. Players can lose a match and still be able to win the tournament, potentially.

2. Two or three weeks per round, since one week didn't really work out too well. But let's actually stick to a deadline (unless of course something exceptional outwith the players' control occurs).

That means, after two weeks, the players responsible for the delay forfeit the round.

3. King mode. We could give this a try. Game scheme should be default + king mode, with the default weapon scheme minus either kamikaze or girders (since a combination of these allows some very easy wins).

Or maybe the first game of a match could be pro mode (say), the second game shoppa, and the third game something else.

4. Don't know about teams. It makes arranging matches more difficult, but can be fun.

5. Spectators should try not to distract the players, especially when the players complain. Take advantage of the spectator team chat feature (spectators can press Y and chat with other spectators without the players hearing).

6. Matches should be best of 3 games again. I don't think there was a problem with this the last time. Games don't all have to be played at the same time, provided they're played within the deadline.

Regarding turn order: first game one side goes first, the next game the other side. If a third game is necessary, the "shuffle teams" mode should be turned on.

7. Somebody should be responsible for uploading games (maybe just the finals, but ideally as many games as possible) to sites like youtube, to try and generate some interest.

8. As before, demos should be posted for all completed games. Or the match didn't happen :p

9. Players are responsible for organizing their own games. Doodle seems pretty good to this end.

10. In the event of players getting disconnected, the opponents can claim a win for that game. Or they could be more sporting if the game was in its early stages, and offer to replay it.

Any thoughts?
