How to aim with this thing?

I guess one of the worst problems new players face in hedgewars are misleading weapon offsets. While this sounds a little bit techy it's quite easy to understand. Especially with Laser Sight enabled it's quite obvious that there seems to be something wrong while aiming with weapons such as the Bazooka.
If you're still not sure what I'm talking about, have a look at the following picture:
You'll notice the laser as well as the crosshair don't fit to the top of the weapon. The line used to draw both starts from the hog's center. That's the position where the shot will appear as well! It isn't an huge issue as long as you try to perform some high angled shot but once you want to shoot at something below you it's quite easy to hit your own feet. The weapon is pointing past the ground but the projectile will hit the ground leading to serious injuries to the poor hedgehog on your team.
This quite old (and potentially very annoying) problem will be solved in 0.9.14. I know existing players will need some time to adapt to that change but I'm sure everyone understands the reason for that change. If you're curious on how the new system works, look at the following screenshot or try it yourself using a SVN build.
Feel free to post your thoughts on this. The current offsets might still change so if you experience strange behaviour or simply wrong offsets, please report them.

Great work - glad to hear this is getting fixed.
romaniuc
That is really nice!
Star and Moon
That always messes me up, glad it's fixed.

I kind of dislike this new behaviour. The problem (at least for my old weak eyes) is that not every weapon is as big as the bazooka for example. Therefore it's somehow frustrating to draw an invisible line from the gun's barrel (for example - desert eagle) to your target when aiming. On the other hand the hedgehog itself is quite noticeable. The same goes for its aiming centre (exactly in the middle of the big purple circle).
The new players have troubles because there is not enough info about this important matter (obviously not many read the unofficial manual for I have described this behaviour there and also one can find many threads in the forums about this 'problem'
).
We will see how things work out. I'm curious.

^ What he said.

Finally getting fixed.............yahoo. But I can see where old players could have an issue with it being fixed as well.

rbaleksandar:
The offset isn't that huge on most weapons. Grenades still use no offset, the desert eagle's offset is moved up by something like 3 or 4 pixels (same for other guns). The only ones where you'll really notice it are the big barreled weapons like bazooka, mortar, etc. (and to some extend the shotgun).

Ah, okay then. If it can be easily noticed, there isn't a problem at all.
Still, we have to try it in order to give a better evaluation.

Even if it will make old players muck up a bit to begin with it will probably only take about 5 games to get used to it. It's a good change as it will help newcomers. That's always good.

Little OT:
I read on cia.vc that somebody implemented flamethrower. How will it work?

see this thread:

That's all I've heard of it apart from cia.vc.

You can try it in the svn. Otherwise it is like the one in "the other game" but you can adjust the fire rate/speed. Might change however.

Thanks. I tried to download SVN, but I failed.
