Heh, well.
If you run debian/ubuntu, pretty much do an apt-get install of the list of packages in the FAQ.
Then run the cmake line with the directories set to somewhere under your user home, then a make install.

If you're running windows... have fun. Considerably more complex and I'm not getting into that.
