starting a hotseat game - can't make new teams

I just downloaded hedgewars and installed it on my osx 10.5.8 laptop.
I select local game -> multiplayer and I have a default team. I can't make new teams. The + option is greyed out, as is the pencil and X.
Any suggestions as to what's wrong?
Go back to the main menu and use the settings button located in the bottom right corner to enter the settings menu and add new teams. 0.9.14 will make it more easy to see why adding/modifying/removing teams is disabled.
