I hate complaining, but I've been having a lot of trouble playing games on the official server. I am able to log into the server and create a room, and my friend is able to join me. We both add teams, I select a map, and when I start the game, the other player gets an error message 'Different Maps Generated,' and the round hangs. The other player is punted back into the room's lobby.

I am running Hedgewars 0.9.15-1 on Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit, and she is running Hedgewars 0.9.15 on OSX 10.5.

When we switch roles, and she creates a room, the same thing happens. Every fourth or fifth attempt, I get the 'Different Maps Generated' message.

She re-downloaded the 32-bit OSX version from hedgewars.org, and I uninstalled my copy, cleared my apt cache, and re-installed. Same result. Here are my debug0.txt and my Logs/game0.log files.

I appreciate any help, support, suggestions, curses you might throw my way. Thanks!

Hi there!

Have you tried to play on CTF_Blizzard or on Blizzard map? Because then the issue is known and can be fixed: Blog-Post: Time for our list of after release work-arounds!.

If not: Which maps have you tried?

PS: btw. "debug0.txt" was the old name of what is called "preview0.log" and "game0.log" now. So attaching the game0.log would had been sufficient, the debug0.txt is just some remaining artifact from your .13 installation back then ;D you can delete it ^^

Thanks for the response, sheepluva! No, I did not try either of the Blizzard maps, but I did read through the list of work-arounds before posting my question in the support forum.

Most of the time we tried to play on Cake, because we knew it was a map that had been in many releases prior to 0.9.15, and we thought it was therefor less likely to have bugs or be missing. Cake failed regardless of which person created the room and selected the map. It was shown as present on both of our systems.

We also tried Sticks, and I believe Castle.

I was wondering about the 0.9.13 info at the top of the file, but I just assumed that it was generated back in the .13 days and info was concatenated as I played HW, regardless of version. I'll toss that file, thanks for the info!

Hmm, please test if _random maps_ lead to the same problem.
(If they work then something with your friends maps' .png's or how they are loaded is probably wrong)
Also try to find out if your friend can play with _anybody_ or if she gets the same error with everybody.

I'll be willing to help with testing if I'm not AFK (as the last time lol, I noticed you and her were talking about probs/testing something in the Lobby, but when I wanted to ask you about it you already were gone XD)

Thanks for being so friendly and responsive. I owe you an apology for being AFK so much lately myself. Things are getting hectic here (I'm a teacher and we just started a new quarter) but hopefully I will find some time to test this more thoroughly during this upcoming weekend.

If I see you on the server, I'll be sure to ping you and try to get you into a game, if you have time and are willing to help test!

Best,
Cheeto

Sounds correct. I tried it. Change maptype to something else, then back to the type that you want. Then recheck scheme and weapons because it might have been reseted to default.

Sounds like the seed used to generated the random map missmatches between players at some point. Doing the above procedure "re-syncs" it?
