Lua Interpreter

Hi there folks. First of all, truly excellent game! It's a lot of fun. Secondly, I have a proposal. It would be great to have a Lua interpreter embedded into the main engine. This would make debugging scripts a whole lot easier. Could it be done, or has it already been thought of before?

Say for example I have a script going down, and it has a few errors in it. I can correct the errors within the in-game interpreter. Or, if I wanted to add a hog to the map, bam, you've got an extra hog on the map and the game continues execution as if none of that even happened.
