I got hedgewars 0.9.17 on ubuntu lucid and found fatal bug with rope - game crushes on attempt to get off from it (to press space button). Any ideas?

Please post your game log. ~/.hedgewars/Logs/game0.log
One guess is that hedgewars-data might not have been correctly updated for Lucid, and the rope detach sound is missing.
Another possibility is an SDL bug in playing back that sound.

Another thing you can test is disabling all sound in game, from the frontend config options.

Did you file any bugs w/ Ubuntu?
