Hello. I've got a little problem with hedgewars:
For some reason, the game starts to jerk and lag, at 20 fps. The game only behaves like this if I have the resolution turned on 1280x1024(the resolution that I always use on the computer and normally runs smooth with everything else), every other resolution works nearly perfect for some reason. The graphics quality setting doesn't affect this much.

I don't know why it behaves like this, because everything else on my computer gets along with this resolution very well, including other games(also 3D).
I also have dualboot with windows on the pc, where it runs completely fine, so I don't think the hardware is the problem, and I also don't think it's this common problem with the sound card, as the sound settings don't affect the gameplay.

Operating systems(Dual boot):
Windows XP 32-bit
Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit

The hedgewars version I'm running is 0.9.17 .
My graphics card is a ATI radeon 2100, and the driver I'm using is "radeon", if that's important.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

'This driver is not as fast as the closed-source, proprietary "fglrx" driver from AMD/ATI Inc. for some cards'

For many cards this means "significantly slower"
On my work computer, only fglrx even functions. Shame, because fglrx is buggier in my experience.

How well does glxgears do?
83320 frames in 5.0 seconds = 16663.994 FPS <- my GeForce 9800 GT
(you might have to disable vsync if glxgears notes that is enabled)

Anyway. Things to try:
1) fglrx
2) disabling compositing - that means not using gnome-shell, using unity 2d, switching from compiz to metacity in gnome2 or using xfce4.
3) Move the Reduce Quality slider over to the left in the hedgewars config settings.

On the To-Do list is optimising graphics for wimpier cards.

Oh, how could I miss this Annoyed . I read much about both drivers and still I didn't knew about that... quite awkward.

However, thank you very much for the information.
