Hedgewars 0.9.19 Released!

Winter is Coming...

... and 0.9.19 is here!

Lemon!Has life been giving you nothing but lemons?

Don't worry, there's a new theme to go bananas over: Fruit!

Frozen hog! Cool New Weapons

Don't wait for hell to freeze over, freeze it yourself with the all-new, amazing Freezer! Freeze your enemies, make ice-bridges over water or just create a slippery path of death! (*The dev team will not be held responsible for any injury and/or death you may sustain while walking on ice)

We've improved your existing arsenal, too! The 'size' of cleaver has been reduced, so now it's more likely to cut into hogs instead of imbedding itself infuriatingly into the ground. The Flying Saucer has also seen some interesting changes...

Flying Saucer Hedgehog Death comes from above below!

It's time to take your amphibious assault to the next level. While using the Flying Saucer, it's now possible to launch projectiles from underwater! Also, instead of just dropping bombs on your enemies you can aim them, too! Wow!

Cyborg Improved AI

  • Think you can hide in a hidey hog hole? The newly improved AI will use drill-rockets to dig you out!
  • Don't worry, though, you can always sneak under the protection of your trusty steel girder, right? That's where you're wrong my friend!

    Robin Hood!    New Gameplay Challenges

  • An frenetic, awesome new gameplay mode: Frenzy! In this mode each turn lasts only one second. Can you handle it?
  • An extra mission: Nobody Laugh.
  • More Achievements: 'Prestigious Pilot' and 'Naughty Ninja' have been added to the old missions. Have fun trying to unlock them.
  • A new weaponset, One of Everything.

    Shocking    New Maps
  • Fight on a variety of new battlegrounds!
  • New entries include Bones, Crystal, Grassy, Haunty, Oaks, Shrooms and Tentacles!
Special thanks to Tiy of Starbound for donating these Starbound backgrounds as Hedgewars maps.

    Yellow Cap!    More customization!

  • Over 30 new hats!
  • New SteelTower fort!

    Ninja Full!    Ropers Rejoice

  • Are you already bored with the hundred shoppa maps you downloaded? Don't worry, now you can play on an 'infinite' number of procedurally generated maps, thanks to the new Shoppa Map script.
  • If the behavior of rope in 0.9.18 made you want to tear your hair out, you'll be glad to know that it's much improved.

Health Pickup    And there is more!

  • A plethora of squished bugs.
  • Improved Interface Lets you access and modify your game settings more easily.
  • Improved Lua Support All power to the scripters!
  • Better chat! Use the up and down keys to navigate the chat history, and feel like a commandline commando by using our /quit, /pause, and /fullscreen commands.
  • Check out the ChangeLog if you want to see a more complete list of the changes.

You can get the new version from the download section!
Please be a bit patient though, it may take a while till all installers/packages for all supported operating systems are available.

From the hedgewars team,
mikade

Best, post, EVER! Big Grin

Thanks a bunch to all the devs! Smile

Two quick questions about the changelog:

Quote:
28 + Themeable static maps (provide a mask.png without a map.png)

Could someone please explain that?

Quote:
37 * Fixes to many weapons. Mudball, blowtorch, explosives, cluster bomb spread, portal.

Do the explosives refer to barrels? And what was changed about the blowtorch?

Try renaming the Cake map, map.png to map.png.bak, restart, then play it.
Don't forget to change it back before playing online.

Yes. Blowtorch had its angles made consistent again. (up vs down).

mikade where do you live? It's spring here heading towards summer!

Anyway this is awesome. Summer is right on my toes and I have a lot of more free time to look into learning programming and art! Also, this release is great! Really liking the feature to create themeable static maps!

Oh, and good ol' Tiy.

Star, it was a Game of Thrones / figurative Freezer reference! :P

FWIW I live in Japan and it's spring heading towards summer here, too. Anywho, enjoy the release and good luck learning more programming / art.

F-ing captcha :-P

Hmm.. what about Mission Map, for example Trophyrace? It runs in my case as normal map.

Check out the Downloadable Content Section. There is a Mission Maps Hotfix under the "Hotfix" section.

It looks awesome! Great job guys. Smile

I'm still waiting for the Mac OS X version though, can't wait. Big Grin

OSX version is up, includes hotfix Smile

Version 0.9.19.1 cannot be compiled because of missing CPackConfig file Sad Smiley

??? I uploaded fixed version yesterday. You sure?
Check hash against hash on download page.

Thanks Koda! Smile

It seems the fixed source archive wasn't uploaded properly?
(nemo: file and md5sum don't match... did you only update the md5 but not the file? :p )

Please download CPackConfig.cmake and put it in cmake_modules.

Compilation should work then.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Just for testing purposes I just started a game with only 1 AI hedgehog and froze it. Subequently it would always be my turn, but I could never move my hedges, aim or fire a weapon. I could still select weapons though. Not that I really wanted to play with this setup, but I think this is not supposed to happen and you might therefore want to know about it.

Thank you very much for this game and its ongoing development! Smile

EDIT: I tried again. It didn't happen this time, so it might be difficult to reproduce. I might have caused it by pressing some button, I suppose... This post is not helpful at all. Annoyed

Anyway. Should be fine now Smile

Yep. Not too helpful. Wink Smiley
In future, when trying to test the limits of stuff, please consider enabling timestamping of saves and demos. That way if you get something weird, you can always link us to it without having to remember to save it.

> Please download CPackConfig.cmake and put it in cmake_modules.

I know, I compiled it using version from mercurial repository.

Now everything is ok, thank you for your work Smile

Perhaps one little thing... After compilation I tried to copy hedgewars, hwengine and Data to external folder, without using make install. Structure of this folder:
./hedgewars
./hwengine
./Data

Generally game runs, but I had problem with locale files. You can run it in English and can't set any other language in options.

It's not problem if you use make install and run hedgewars from /usr/bin of course. Then you can run it in Polish and many other languages.

Should I report bug or it's known?

It's a little strange, yes please report it to our bugtracker.

I found some random 0.9.19 wallpaper on the server.
For the case that anybody wants to check it out I linked it on the media page ^^
