Player leaves, hedgehogs explode

I can't stop thinking how unfair the new drop-out-of-the-game methode is. In 0.9.12 it wasn't perfect but still it was better than now. Previously the hedgehogs of the player, who left, stayed. This might have been a little bit confusing (not once or twice I have shot at such dummies) but still didn't bother. Now when a player leaves all of his/her hedgehogs explode, when his/her turn comes. So if you're unlucky enough the game will place your hedgehogs next to such a player. If you're even more unlucky, you'll be on the edge of a cliff and when the player drops out of the game and his hedgehogs explode, you'll end up in the water. Sad Smiley I don't see why someone has to suffer losses because someone decided to quit untimely.

So I htink it's better just to remove the objects representing the hedgehogs and not kill them.

Huh? Afaik, it's always been the case that when a player leaves, his hedgehogs explode. Certainly was the case in .11 and .12.

I agree that it can be annoying though.

Well, remember that hedgehogs in .12 didn't explode.

It was introduced some time after 0.9.11 - thought it's been in 0.9.12 already, but I'm not sure atm and too lazy to check back.

How about allowing those hogs teleport out of the map? Could be abused as well but might have less impact?

Hmm, you're the one who can say what's easier - teleporting something out of the map or just deleting it (omho the second should be easier to do and requires less coding for you don't have to call teleportation nor the animation of an exploding hedgehog). Smile

Spontaneous combustion! That would fix it and can get pretty funny if the animation is well made. Big Grin
Another thing that needs some attention is the removal of the team that left from the small team list centred on the bottom of the screen.

For now (in 0.9.14/SVN) teams of gone players will teleport out of the map. This could be abused as well but to be honest there's no fair solution for all situations (explode/don't explode/etc.).

If someone ends up with a better animation (than default teleport), tell me (or even better provide sprites Wink Smiley).
