incentives for killing

It would be cool to reward players for killing a hog or killing three hogs or certain achievements. The reward could be a simple spaceship or rope or one of the other toolboxes or anything simple that would be fun to get as a reward.

I'm aware that vampire mode somewhat uses this idea.

There are so many suggestions they are hard to look through so forgive me if this is a recurrence.

What about winning the game. Isn't that incentive enough? :P

When I play it seems like the player with the most kills is rarely the winner. In fact a lot of the time a player with 10 kills will loose to a player with less than 5 kills. If players want to win a better strategy would be to hide than fight but that of course is less fun.

I've considered making a Deathmatch gameplay mode in the past. Maybe I still will sometime.
I.E All hogs respawn when killed, and the team that gets to 10 kills first "wins" the game.

Hm, I can probably make you a version of this on the weekend. Do you have any suggestion as to a formula for the frag limit?

Otherwise I will go for: Frag Limit = 2 + (Number of Hogs / Number of Teams)

edit: Also, should killing your own hogs (intentionally or not) count as +0 or -1 kills?

I think it should count for -1 because it gives the other players less hogs to kill. It also means people will have to worry about killing their own hogs even on their last kills.

I'm not sure about the number of hogs. Perhaps something like 1/3rd of the total number of hogs. Assuming everyone starts with the same amount. So it would be Totalhogs/3. I think your formula could work too. I haven't thought it all the way through. There are a lot of combinations so yours might be more thought out.

As a side note it would make sense to be able to set how many hogs each team has by just changing one instead of doing it individually for every team.

Not that -1 is necessarily a bad idea in terms of how it would alter play.

I see that makes sense. In that case I still think something like -1 is a good idea. Just so players will have to be cautious with their weapons. As for the number of kills I think your formula is good. But it seems like it would be easy enough to tweak if needed.

Hm. Teeworlds can be a lot of fun at LANs and stuff, I guess. For online play, 9/10 healthy/attractive/successful men/women/trans-gendered-individuals prefer Hedgewars!

With regards to the "deathmatch mode", I finished it a while back. It's only compatible with the dev. version of Hedgewars, tho. Poke me in IRC if you want to test it.
