Christmas, hedgewars style...

You didn't think we'd forgotten about you did you?

Christmas is coming, and we've been working on a present.. just for you!
If everything goes well a Christmas update will be coming your way soon.

There are various new weapons and features in there, but I want those to stay a surprise for now.. but there is one HUGE feature included in this release I thought I'd tell you about..

I'll let a development screenshot do the talking :)

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3 :)

Yup, you can draw your own maps in game :) you can save them, share them, and soon you'll be able to upload them to hedgewars.org too.

Nice, can't wait for it. Thanks for you efforts!
Like graffiti mode from Worms: Director's Cut? Nice!
awesome! anybody else notice the gameplay option Big Grin
Absolutely awesome! Wow! Smile That's a great Christmas present for all HW players! But... I have a little advice about it: can you fix the 'Aerial Bug' (as I call it) or 'Chip's Bug' (as nemo calls it) in this release (0.9.14.2???)? So I'll be finally able to recreate the original Aerial! (Details about the bug here: http://www.hedgewars.org/node/2574 ). -ChipHome
Hell yeah! Can't wait to make my own maps =D
Awesome. Thanks for the birthday update! (today's my birthday!) Big Grin Cake Also in pic 2 I see an option for game-play which is set on normal. (I also see a Christmas theme.) Tool suggestions: Placer, (Place an object that will always be there when you play with it in game.) Abstract Shape Painter, (Allows you to paint with different shapes, such as a star, square and a triangle.) and Dino-mite (Blow up a small section of your map and in game it'll look like it was blown up in game.)
Neat! Happy birthday Star and Moon!
Last years Cristmas-news: Spend the next few days with those nearest and dearest, your family, friends, loved ones.Unwrap presents, eat turkey, sing songs, play games and get drunk off your ass.. but I don't want to see you on the server! So this wont work this year! (Thank you for that)

Merry Christmas, Hanukkah or whatever from Star and Moon(Me)!
cool!. did you implement a p2p server to share the files?
cool!. did you implement a p2p server to share the files?
Hedgewars.org? Smile
So, no- seems not Sad Smiley It cant be so hard to implement p2p-function for that!
Well, the last drawn map you played is sent to your side, so, yeah, would just need to expose the save button to the client. Right now you'd have to leave the room, start your own and do the save there. But, I think what unc0rr implemented is pretty darn impressive as it is now. He put together draw map mode in just a few weeks, and even without a bunch of fancy save / draw shape / whatever stuff, is an awesome addition.
well I think a p2p server can be implemented at client side(with Qt network classes), the map would be shared with all players before the game start. iirc teeworlds does something like this.
In my reply to Thomas, my point as the game does that already. The act of playing shares the map with everyone. This isn't about network protocol. What is missing is simply something like including the Save button in the room screen or somesuch. But right now, if you want to keep that map you can leave the room, make a new one, click on edit, and save it. A mild inconvenience, but I was just pointing out that in comparison with what unc0rr had implemented, it was hardly something to dwell on.
Ok, and when will we get our christmas present?Santa! I cant wait for that implementation, pleeeeease!!!!!! Big Grin

Release announcement just isn't up yet. OSX is on the torrents, Linux can be done using source build - http://www.hedgewars.org/node/2215#comment-15049 (with hg up 0.9.15 for using the release)

Hey, something is funky with the timers. It counts down to 5, then starts at 45 again Shocking I'm double checking it now. SPOILER *campaign mode* *twitch* awesome! edit: yeah, everything set to default, on my own drawn map. Timer starts at 5, then *resets* to 45 on the same turn.
deadpikle. that's deliberate. it gives you 5 seconds to do something. for hotseat games or inattentive players. cancels at your first action.
I see. Smile Perhaps you should put those numbers in a different color or something, so that dumb people like me don't freak out :P (I had recently read the 5 second bug with the iOs version, hence the mention). Thanks!
Ho very nice job, I see. :ShaggyYeti: DBZ
