iNews & GSoC update

Hello everyone,
here are a couple of background news that occurred lately, regarding Mac, iOS and GSoC

* A new build of 0.9.15 has been published on the MacAppStore to grant compatibility with upcoming Lion OSX; per "compatibility" i mean a crash due to a bug/ABI change that prevents the engine to open. Please update if you wish to play under Lion;
* We took some time to write the guide to compile Hedgewars on iOS here; please try it out and send comments
* Unfortunately the GSoC project for improving AI has been cancelled due to lack of communication

In the upcoming weeks it will happen that
- an iOS 1.3 version should be published
- hopefully a guide for building the Android versioin will be added to the wiki
- we will review and release the midterm evaluation for the remaining GSoC project

Now that was unexpected... hope there is still someone interested in improving the AI.

I would've liked to see Doomy get involved in GSoC.He loves making HW scripts and is on almost every day.

Eh,I have only learned Pascal a little bit,but I learn most stuff by looking at the code an knowing what it does.So I might...

BTW what kind of stuff is new in 9.16? We haven't had a post about that in months... Sad Smiley

golf theme
option for bottom border to map
more game noises (mine impact, sine gun, etc)
voices don't overlap (was needed more due to faster game actions due to shortened delays), victory/flawless victory sounds
hammer impacts mines/barrels
fullscreen works with windows/OSX drivers properly (downside is it is a bit slower and requires the game using a lot more memory than under linux, to recreate the destroyed textures)
window is resizable
seduction is area of effect
admins can change room name without exiting room
stereoscopic rendering
land smoothing (looks less pixelated on generation and damage)
installing content (anything under Data/ - maps, sounds, and any such stuff) to user profile. allows custom overriding of any Data/ content
screen for downloadable content
many many bugfixes
new modes like the specialists and space invader and many accompanying lua hooks
snow accumulates more smoothly, also land has background on snow theme again
control of grenade bounce (may be disabled by default)
indicator for height of plane when using napalm
theme cleanup, including the new theme config file change, and henek's still-being-worked-on web-based theme creator
sudden death art
frontend improvements
rope head can attach to hogs/crates/barrels again (rope still passes through them)
improvements in scoring and tracking damage
camera tracking now toggleable
can now use lower part of screen when fully zoomed out and targetting things
tardis
shoppa scheme by default resets ammo, tiy always wanted that
some ai fixes
fixed locales, such as korean
no more "throwing" grenade into centre of hog for 50dmg
ukranian localisation of Default voice. support for localised voices
mudball does not end turn
shots are on a tenth of a second delay instead of a 1 and a quarter second delay (fast deagle/portal fire)
prevent portaling to impossible locations
land spray gun
drill strike can now go through multiple layers and has a timer (might be OP? makes for pretty lethal in endgame SD - perhaps timer should be limited)
tag team game mode
autokick ignored players joining your room
defective mines explode if they take enough damage
drawing straight lines in drawn map mode
8 teams in a game
minor, but hogs can skip on water *while* firing a rope now

probably other things I missed

Thank you soooo much for the Lion update, i have OS X Lion and was a pain in the ass to open VMware Fusion or Bootcamp, just to run Hedgewars, lol !

nemo keeps forgetting about the new stereoscopic rendering!
You can play hedgewars with 3D glasses, either in anaglyph or with a stereo 3d tv

I'm loving the changes to the grenades, especially controlling the bounce, because I hate how much it bounces in the current version.

When will 0.9.16 be released?

Nice, but the version 0.9.15 is not much more styles and the map Sad Smiley. But awsome! Big Grin
