Hello, my name is Parrot GamesGG I am a music composer, and I would like to help you in making, at least, the Sudden Death music. I know, that it is a stock, non-copyrighted song, but I would like to make the custom song, so the game would be even more original. I don't need any charge for using my song. Even though I am not a professional, I will try my best. You can contact me at any time by this E-mail adress:parrotgamesggg@gmail.com
Sincerely, Parrot GamesGG

Sounds great! Smile
It is true our current music is not an original track.

(Sidenote: But it is untrue it is "non-copyrighted". Technically, everything not in the Public Domain is subject to copyright, even many free software. That's not the fault of free software but the copyright law trying to force copyright logic onto (almost) everything. Long story short: Copyright laws are complicated lol.)

A lot of artwork in Hedgewars is original and we would gladly like to hear a custom-made Sudden Death music. We don't really have "style rules" but I, as a musical layperson, would just suggest to go with something that just seems to set the right mood and still fits the overall tone of the game. Remember, Sudden Death is called that for a reason, as the water level rises and rises, and hedgehogs will take damage each turn.

For more art style discussions, I strongly suggest to hop over to our chatroom at . (I'm not the art expert here.)

IMPORTANT: For all contributions, we expect the author to release the work under the GNU Free Documentation Licence version 1.2. This license ensures Hedgewars remains free-as-in-freedom and open for everyone. The Hedgewars artwork is under that license, allowing everyone to openly copy, share, modify, and share those modifications of that artwork.

Just asking, would the Kevin MacLeod Hitman Sudden Death that is used in the current stable release be turned into DLC material when the new and original one gets published and implemented into the game, like the old menu music that is already in DLC?

I have some bad news.
I'm sick, my stomach hurts. This is some kind of viral disease that is spreading across Europe. Work on the track will slow down due to my poor health, but I will try to work as best I can.

I am currently replacing the original audio files in Hedgewars to test them out. Maybe, I will make a video.

Sorry for the late reply.

I just listened to the music on YT but to be honest, I don't think it fits to the game well. It sounds like something for an old SNES game. Which would be acceptable when all of Hedgewars were like that but it isn't. I like the mood you tried to set here but it still feels off. I think the other tracks in Hedgewars feel more … professional?

Sorry, this is really hard to explain, but maybe sheepluva can explain it better.

By the way, if you want a place to upload free/libre media specifially for games (like your music), I suggest to upload to OpenGameArt.org. Even if this track won't make it into Hedgewars (sorry), there is a huge community over that that will appreciate new posts.

Hi! I will upload the newer version on Youtube, because it exists. Also, thanks for the advice!

Hi!
Thanks for the advice. I have also made the newer version, so I will upload it on YouTube and share it here. Maybe, I will try to make something better. I will analyse other Hedgewars tracks, so I could recreate the music style. I will also try to ask the composers about which samples and VSTis they have used.

Would you remix the current version you provided with a more Hedgewars-accurate style? At least try to do so? It feels atmosphere-accurate, honestly, again could make a DLC or a thing to remix for the style.
