New Sudden Death music, and why it should be in the game.

Greetings! I've made a new Sudden Death music for Hedgewars. I'll be glad if the devs will add it!

The game currently has the free music by Kevin McLeod, but I want to have a game, where all of the music is original, so I've decided to contribute to the game by making my own song.

Is Hedgewars no longer developed?

Howdy, everyone! Yeah, I know, that there are bugfixes and stuff, but I don't know if developers are even going to add new features, weapons, hats, etc. I haven't seen any major updates for a pretty long time. What do you know about this situation?

Suggestions for Enhancing Hedgewars AI Difficulty Levels

I have been enjoying Hedgewars for quite some time and appreciate the variety it offers; especially with custom maps & weapons. However, I've noticed that the AI opponents often seem either too easy or frustratingly predictable, even at higher difficulty levels. It feels like there's potential to make the game more engaging by refining how the AI operates during matches.

One suggestion would be to introduce an adaptive AI mode. This mode could assess the player's skill level over time and adjust its strategies accordingly. For instance; it could learn from previous matches to counter frequently used tactics or vary its weapon choices more strategically.

This would add a layer of unpredictability and make battles more challenging and fun.

Additionally; tweaking the way AI uses environmental features could elevate gameplay. Imagine the AI making more deliberate use of terrain advantages, like finding better cover spots or using explosives to create tactical openings. These enhancements could make the single-player experience feel as dynamic and competitive as multiplayer matches. I'd love to hear what others think about this or if they've faced similar issues with the current AI!

Running hedgewars-server with systemd socket activation via systemd-socket-proxyd

Hello everyone. Didn't find this mentioned anywhere on the site, so I thought I should document this here if it would be useful.

My scenario is as follows: I run a dedicated server for me and my friends on a separate headless Linux machine, and if I configure it to run just as a normal systemd unit, after a certain amount of uptime it starts to behave erratically/drop connections, so I have to restart it manually or just ignore it and run the server from within the client GUI each time we congregate to play. Neither of which is a very convenient way for me.

Can Anyone Give me Tips for Creating Custom Maps and Mods in Hedgewars

Hello Hedgewars Community,

I am working on to develop custom maps and mods that offer unique gameplay experiences and expand the options available in Hedgewars; I am interested in creating maps with interesting terrain & adding new game mechanics through mods.
I have successfully set up the basic framework for map creation and have experimented with a few simple maps. I want to add more complexity and polish to my creations.

Any tips or best practices for designing maps that offer a good balance of challenge and fun & I’m especially interested in learning about terrain features that can enhance gameplay.

If you have experience with modding Hedgewars. I will appreciate advice on how to implement new game mechanics or features. What tools or resources would you recommend for modding?
