Highlander tournament?
Hi!
Is there any interest in a more serious Highlander tournament/series? Any ideas for the format?
Artwork licenses question
Hello!
I'd like to know if I can use the following picture:

in a poster designed for the Fedora Games Spin. (how is hedgewars artwork licensed?)
Thanks!
AI accuracy
Hello,
I have been enjoying Hedgewars since a week ( version 0.9.18 ) , beating and being beaten in battles with the AI.
But so far there's only 1 thing that disapointed me : the AI uncanny accuracy regardless of distance and winds.
If there's even a pixel of opening, the shot will land.
Searching a bit i learned that you can set the AI "difficulty" level when creating the teams. I had hope then and started experimenting a bit with this.
Unfortunately, i noticed that the difficulty has no obvious influence on the accuracy, the AI is still able to land the exact same near impossible shots directly spot on targets (target being either one of my troops or another AI troops) even at the lowest setting or at the highest.
The only difference between the difficulty levels seems to be that they use more different weapons at higher difficulty setting :
The most hilariously sad was in a game in which i dug a pixel large whole tunnel through half of a map with the pistol and hit an AI that was not moving.
Once shot, that AI moved a bit away , jumped on a little elevation, turned and shot me through that pixel large tunnel, and that on the lowest difficulty team !
So my question is : is it possible to edit the accuracy of the AI so they can sometime miss at the lowest difficulty setting when the shot is difficult ?
Wanted: Places to upload Hedgewars-related stuff
TL;DR: Many players use OCHs to upload their stuff. But OCHs suck, therefore we need independent places for our Hedgewars-related stuff.
When creating stuff for Hedgewars (e.g. themes, maps, voicepacks, graphics, …) and you want to share it with the Hedgewars community you soon encounter a problem: There are no good places to upload your stuff. What most people do is they upload it on some one-click hoster (OCH). The problem is that most of these OCHs delete the shit out of their servers, either after a fixed time period or seemingly at random. These OCHs are not suitable for long-term file-storing. This is a big problem, because we already have lost a couple of themes, maps, voicepacks and so on solely because players currently see/have no real alternative ways to upload their stuff.
Therefore, we need dedicated places in the Internet where we can share:
- maps
- themes
- forts
- voicepacks
- hats
- graves
- flags
- demos
- saved games
- teams
- game shemes
- weapon shemes
- missions
- scripts
- minimal graphical modifications that modify the looks of something (hedgehogs, weapons, whatever)
- works in progress (or stuff where the uploader isn't sure enough to consider it "finished")
- screenshots
- fan art
- anything else Hedgewars-related
These places should be run by volunteering Hedgewars fans/players/devs and not by a unknown 3rd party. That way we are safer against random deletion surprises. At least any HW player should be allowed to upload stuff.
These places could come in many flavours. Maybe in form of a webpage. Maybe in form of a FTP server with a directory structure that actually makes sense (That would be awesome!). Maybe in form of forum attachments for smaller files. Whatever.
Currently, I know these places (feel free to contribute to this list):
- http://hh.unit22.org/ - maps, forts, themes, graves, hats, flags, scripts and voicepacks (finished stuff, no works in progress as far I know)
- http://hedgewars.org/demos - demos
- Share your mods ! - weapon schemes and game schemes
On the list, I mark achieved stuff using green text color.
Mutant mode
Hey. It's hard to find rules for the new "mutant" mode. They are in the source code but it doesn't really help normal people. So here's copy-paste from mutant.lua.
GAME RULES
----
Recommended settings:
* one hedgehog per team
* 'Small' one-island map
----
First one to kill anyone becomes Mutant. Mutant has super-weapons
and a lot of health, which however depletes if he doesn't frag fast.
Goal of Mutant is to use his weapons to hold his status for as long
as he can.
Goal of others is to hunt the Mutant down. The one who kills Mutant,
becomes Mutant himself.
The player with least points (or most deaths) is Bottom Feeder. He
can gain points by killing anyone. Other normal players only get points
for killing Mutant.
----
Points:
+2 for becoming a Mutant
+1 to a Mutant for killing anyone
+1 to a Bottom Feeder for killing anyone
-1 to anyone for a suicide
other kills don't give you points.
